1. What are the lenses made of? We use lightweight CR39 (plastic) lenses with a free ‘Scratch Resistant’ coating with majority of our glasses. We upgrade your glasses to thin and lightweight polycarbonate (toughened plastic) lenses free with our rimless glasses as they are less likely to break than ordinary plastic lenses. 2. Do you sell prescription sunglasses? Yes. All you have to do is select the colour and strength you want. 3. Can I order colour changing lenses? Yes. All you have to do is select which colour you want the lenses to go dark. These lenses will be clear indoors and go dark in the sun depending on the strength of the sunlight. They react to UV rays therefore might not go dark inside the car, as all new cars have UV protection on their windscreens. These lenses include a 100% UV filter. 4. What Lens coatings do you offer? • Anti-Reflection Coating(£15) – Reduces glare from car headlights, sunlight and VDU screens. The coating makes the lenses almost invisible and therefore cosmetic appearance improved as well as photographic reflection of your prescription glasses is reduced.
• Ultra Violet coating [UV block] (£10) – Helps protect the eyes from harmful damage caused by UV rays in the sun and snow. UV radiation can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration (no cure) and many other eye disorders.
• Scratch Resistant Coating [hard coat] (Free) – This coating protects lenses from excessive scratching which can decrease your vision. 5. Can I order glasses even if I have a very high prescription? We supply prescription lens powers of between +6.00 and -10.00 spheres and +/-4.00 cylinders. Please contact us for all powers beyond these ranges. 6. Can I order glasses even if I don’t have a prescription? Yes. You will need to select ‘Plano’ on the prescription page. 7. Do you supply Bifocal Lenses? Yes we do (at an additional cost of £20.00). Only if your optician has recommended bifocal lenses should you order them from us. We supply the most popular bifocal type and they are called D28 bifocal lenses. These are 28mm wide ‘D’ shaped segments positioned vertically 3mm below the centre of the lens. If you would like them to be positioned further up or down (higher or lower) then do state on your order or ring us. If you want a different type of bifocal such as Executive Bifocal Lenses (bifocal line going across the whole width of the lens) which give a wider reading area, then please ring us for an individual quote (01923-243522). 9. Can you supply Varifocal lenses? Yes we can only do them on your own frames. You need to send your own glasses so that we can take the measurements from them and make varifocal lenses to your new prescription. The price of the varifocal lens depends on the size of the frame as we will need to use special compact lenses if the frames are shallow.
